Ready for another Moms Who Write adventure? Submissions are officially open for our next anthology: The Magic of Us! This time, we’re tipping our hats off to the poets of the group just in time for the season of magic. Poets of all types are welcome!
The Of Us series has truly been an honor for us to publish. We love collaborating with this group, and these anthologies always bring us back to our core mission: to build a supportive community.
If you’re interested in submitting or are simply curious about the process, take a look below to see what we’re looking for this time around:
The Magic of Us Submissions Guidelines
Submissions Open: September 9, 2023
Submission Close: October 14, 2023
What We’re Looking For
Poetry of any type! While the team tends to prefer non-rhyming poetry, we want a variety of styles from free-verse to narrative to acrostic to sonnets—and anything in between.
Like our other Of Us anthologies, we want raw and real pieces about life. Give us your grief, your joy, your messiness; we want all the feelings. The theme for this anthology is free-flowing and will take shape as we read your submissions. So, write the words your heart needs to speak, and we’ll hear them.
You may submit up to five (5) poems.
Copyrights and Payment
You, as the author, retain all rights to your work. You may submit previously published work to this anthology.
As with our other Of Us Anthologies, chosen submissions will be unpaid. All proceeds from book sales will go to The Pacific Birth Collective, an organization “dedicated to the education, support, and advocacy for birth & wellness choices across Hawai’i.” Specifically, we’re earmarking our donation to support families impacted by the Maui fires. Read about PBC here and here.
How to Submit
Please fill out a Google form submission HERE. We do take multiple submissions, but we kindly ask you to create a separate document for each piece and submit a form for each one. If you have a collection of five or fewer poems, you may submit them in a single document.
Make sure the share settings on your Google Doc are not restricted. (In your Google Doc, click the Share icon in the top right corner. Change “General Access” from “Restricted” to “Anyone with the link.”) Due to the expected volume of submissions, we can only request access to view your document once.
We understand that Google isn’t everyone’s preferred submission method, but we cannot take submissions in any other form at this time. Please reach out if you need assistance.
We’re here if you need us
We’re moms who write, meaning we go off-grid and into chaos and disappear into darkness occasionally. But the best part of our group is the support we offer each other when life gets tough. If you have questions about submissions, ideas, or concerns, someone is always here to help. Reach out to us via our social platforms or right on our website. We’re here for you.
