As we wrap up The Future of Us, we’re ready to get going on our second fiction anthology. faultlines: a dystopian anthology is open for submissions!
In the fall, we put together Fireside—our spooky fiction anthology. We had so much fun with it that we’re doing dystopian this time!
Dust off old stories you haven’t finished, sit down, and write out the idea in your head. This time, we’re taking flash fiction and short stories!
About faultlines: a dystopian anthology
What happens when society cracks under the weight of its oppression—when disease, destruction, or war create fault lines? What unique, dystopian tale do you have to tell us? Let the title be your prompt!

FAQ
- What are we looking for? Flash fiction, short stories, and poetry.
- Is there a maximum word count? Up to 1,000 words for flash; 1,000-10,000 words for short stories.
- Is there a limit on the number of submissions? We will only look at the first three (3) pieces you submit.
- Can we submit previously published pieces? Absolutely.
- Are accepted authors paid? Yes. $15 for flash and poetry; $35 for short stories.
- Do you offer feedback for submissions? Yes! You have the option to request feedback for this anthology. There’s a $10 feedback fee for your first flash/poetry submission and a $15 feedback fee for your first short story submission. For each additional submission, there is a $5 feedback fee.

How to Submit
Please submit using the link above. We do take multiple submissions, but we kindly ask you to create a separate document for each piece and submit a form for each one.
Make sure the share settings on your Google Doc are not restricted. Due to the expected volume of submissions, we can only request access to view your document once.
We understand that Google isn’t everyone’s preferred submission method, but we cannot take submissions in any other form at this time. Please reach out if you need assistance.
Copyrights and Payment
Payment is as follows:
$15 for accepted flash fiction and poetry.
$35 for accepted short stories.
You, as the author, retain all rights to your work. You may submit previously published work to this anthology.
Please include your PayPal address on the submission form in the event that your work is accepted.
Feedback Opportunity!
We’re excited to offer feedback for this anthology! For a small fee, you can receive feedback from three readers, including 2-5 key points we liked and 2-5 key points on where it could improve.
- $10 feedback fee for your first flash/poetry submission; $5 for each additional submission
- $15 feedback fee for your first short story submission; $5 for each additional submission
