Yesterday was Great Poetry Reading Day, a day to honor those poetic souls who have the courage to reveal the most private pieces of their souls– out loud. We have a handful of our very own spoken word poets to celebrate, all with their own style and flair.
Spoken word poetry has become increasingly popular since the pandemic. There is something magical about being able to read your poem to the world the way it appears in your mind. The natural rhythms and dramatic pauses are often lost on paper. I envy those who have the courage to look into the eyes of others and speak nothing but their truth. The bravery required to publically display your vulnerabilities in front of strangers, friends, and family is on a level I aspire to reach.
Here are a few of our favorite spoken word poets from Moms Who Write. Check them out!
